Kolkata/UNI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to be in the city on March 1 as the BJP has decided to felicitate him in a grand manner for passing the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA), according to state BJP president Dilip Ghosh.

Mr Ghosh told reporters today that the party's state unit has been organizing pro-CAA rallies across West Bengal for past weeks and so far it held 700 meetings with huge participation of the common people.

He said Bharatiya Janata Party's chief JP Nadda was also given grand felicitation in Kolkata when he led a massive rally in support of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in December.

Mr Ghosh said they had communicated to the central leadership for having the Home Minister in Kolkata so that they could organise a public rally in the support of the CAA.

"Amit ji is expected to be in the city on March 1," said Mr Ghosh.

"The venue of the programme will probably be in Kolkata," said Mr Ghosh.
