Kolkata, Nov 21 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has rushed to the state-run Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial Hospital (SSKM Hospital) in Kolkata after hearing about the fire that broke out in the hospital on Monday morning.

The fire had been reported shortly after 11 am and eight engines had already been pressed into service, NDTV reported quoting fire department sources.

Thick smoke was seen billowing out of the Ronald Ross building but no reports of casualty so far, media reported.

The cause of the fire is not known yet.

The CM said she is mulling the idea of stationing fire engines in the hospitals round the clock to attend to emergency situations, media reported.
