West Bengal: COVID-19 death toll crosses 600-mark, tally reaches 15648

Kolkata/IBNS: With 15 fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 death count in West Bengal has reached 606 while the total number of confirmed cases in the state has mounted to 15648, including 4852 active ones, reports said on Thursday.

According to a bulletin issued by West Bengal health and family welfare department, 475 new cases were recorded in the state in the past 24 hours and 322 of those cases (nearly 68 per cent) were reported from three neighbouring districts— Kolkata (163), North 24 Parganas (117) and Howrah (42).

The bulletin stated that with 488 discharges reported in the last 24 hours, 10190 Covid-19 patients had recovered from the infection till date, taking the state's discharge rate to 62.12 per cent.

West Bengal has tested 4,39,258 samples till date with 9492 tests being conducted in 50 testing facilities across the state in the last 24 hours, reports said.

Presently, 7865 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 98751 people are under home surveillance in the state.
