Kolkata/IBNS: A massive fire broke out in a Naphtha tanker at Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (HPL) in East Medinipur district of West Bengal on Tuesday, reports said.

According to reports, the fire had started in a pipeline near the Naphtha storage tank in the afternoon during a scheduled maintenance (shut down) procedure and it spread quickly to the Naphtha tanker.

HPL's own fire extinguishing vehicles as well as state's fire tenders rushed to the site and at least eight fire engines are currently engaged in the firefighting operations.

State fire and emergency services officials said that they had evacuated all staffers of the HPL safely and no casualty had been reported as of now.
