Kolkata/West Midnapore, Sept 9 (IBNS): The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Friday recovered a high-intensity landmine, possibly planted by Maoists, from West Bengal's Left Wing Extremism (LWE) district West Midnapore, reports said.

According to reports, acting on a tip off, jawans of CRPF's 165 battalion, along with specially trained COBRA force, spotted the landmine, weighing 7 kgs, beside a road at Kushboni Forest area near Binpur under Jhargram Sub-Division limits.

Later, the bomb disposal unit of the central security force rushed to the spot and defused the landmine.

CRPF officials said that Naxals had planted the mine recently.

Surveillance in the area has been beefed up following the incident, reports said.
