Kolkata, Jan 31 (IBNS): At least 35 persons were injured when a government-run bus overturned and fell into a roadside canal at Ranihati-Amta Road under Panchla Police Station limits in West Bengal's Howrah district on Tuesday morning, reports said.

According to reports, the Udaynarayanpur to Kolkata's Esplanade bound bus, owned by West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC), suddenly lost its control and fell into a dry canal beside Ranihati-Amta Road at around 9 am.

At least 35 passengers of the bus, including its driver and conductor, were injured in the mishap and rushed to a nearby hospital.

Due to the accident, traffic was disrupted at the area for hours.

Meanwhile, a running private car reportedly caught fire at Red Road in Kolkata at around 11:30 am. on Tuesday.

A fire tender engine rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

After preliminary investigation, fire officials said that the fire might have started due to a short circuit.

However, none was hurt in the incident, while the car was completely gutted due to the fire.
