'Who says this nonsense?' Nitish Kumar slams Yogi Adityanath's CAA remark in Bihar polls

Patna/IBNS: In a massive embarrassment for the ruling coalition National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for speaking in favour of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in the campaign for the Bihar polls, media reports said.

Kumar, who is seeking the fourth term in alliance with Adityanath's outfit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said, "Who does all this malicious campaigning? Who says all this nonsense? Who will throw out people? No one dares do that.

"Everyone belongs to this country, everyone is Indian."

Though Kumar, who had opposed the new citizenship law, didn't name anyone, it is widely believed that his remark was directed towards Adityanath.

Earlier Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan, a former ally of the BJP, attacked Kumar for sharing the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi whom he had attacked earlier on a number of issues.

The LJP chief was presumably referring to Kumar's ideological differences with Modi's BJP on matters like the abrogation of Article 370 and CAA.

The CAA, which has been enacted, aims to grant citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi but not Muslim refugees who came to India from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan before 2015.

The third phase of the elections will be held on Nov 7 and the results will be declared on 10th of the same month.
