Will return donations taken from public, fans for launching party, says Kamal Haasan
Chennai, Nov 17 (IBNS): Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan, in a column recently, has said that he will return all donations taken from public and fans to launch his own political party, media reports said.
Haasan, in a column in a Tamil magazine, said it is illegal to collect money before launching a party.
The superstar has already collected Rs. 30 crore for the cause.
Though he is yet to start a new party, Haasan has already launched a mobile app which he called the first step towards joining politics.
The superstar launched the mobile app on his 63rd birthday on Nov. 7.
Haasan's political ambition was speculated over the last few months as the actor had been critical of the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu.
He has also said that he is not a saffron person, distancing from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
He was met Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal weeks ago.
Haasan was present at an event organised by the principal opposition party of Tamil Nadu, the DMK, sharing the stage with the DMK chief MK Stalin.
The veteran actor, who is eyeing to begin his political career, had once said that the right-wing group can no longer deny Hindu terrorism.
Haasan said this also in his column published in a Tamil magazine.
Speaking about the terrorism, Haasan said: "The right wing cannot challenge talk of Hindu terrorists because terror has spread into their camp as well."
"Hindus are losing faith in 'satyameva jayate' and instead subscribing to 'might is right" he said.
The actor's comments came as a reply to Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan who asked Haasan about what he implied to say by recent communalism that is a threat to the peaceful co-existence of Tamil Drividan tradition.
