Working to strengthen bond between Gujarat and Canada: Justin Trudeau

Mumbai, Feb 20 (IBNS): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday said he is looking forward to see business, innovation and friendship bond between Gujarat state of India and his country to strengthen in the upcoming days.

He met state Chief Minister Vijay Rupani during his visit to Gujarat on Monday.

"Canada & Gujarat already have strong connections in business, innovation and friendship. And we’re working to make them even stronger. Thanks to @vijayrupanibjp, Chief Minister of Gujarat, for hosting us so generously today," Justin Trudeau tweeted.

The PM said he was glad to visit the state with his family as he posted: " Thank you Gujarat! It’s Family Day for many of us back home - I’m glad we got to spend it with you here."

Speaking on the meeting with the PM, Gujarat CM Rupani tweeted: " It was wonderful meeting the Right Honourable @JustinTrudeau Prime Minister Of CANADA in ahmedabad today. We discussed various aspects of cooperation between Gujarat and Canada in education, industry, start-up and innovation."

Trudeau is visiting Mumbai on Tuesday.

Trudeau is on a week-long visit to India.

The Canadian Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with PM Narendra Modi on Feb 23.

Both the leaders will talk and focus on key issues like trade, defence, civil nuclear cooperation, space, tackling climate change energy and education. Trudeau's visit is expected to deepen ties between India and Canada.

Accompanied by his family, the 46-year-old prime minister arrived in New Delhi on Saturday evening. He has already been to Agra for a visit to Taj with his family.

Trudeau along with his family on Sunday visited Taj Mahal in Agra.
