Commercial LPG cylinder prices hiked in metro cities

New Delhi/UNI: Price of commercial LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs 16.50 and Rs 22.50 in the four major metros of the country, giving a blow to the consumers on the first day of New Year on Friday.

However, the price of the domestic cooking gas cylinder continues to be the same.

According to Indian Oil Corporation, a leading oil marketing company, price of a 19-kg commercial-use cylinder has been increased by Rs 17 in Delhi and will now cost Rs 1349.

In Kolkata, after an increase of Rs 22.50, the consumer will have to shell out Rs 1487.

The price in Mumbai has gone up by Rs 17 and cost Rs 1297.50, while in Chennai after a hike of Rs 16.50 the consumers will be charged Rs 1463.50.

The government gives subsidy on 14.2 kg's 12 cylinders in a year to a household, and when the quantity goes above 12 , the consumer has to pay the market price , while the price of the gas cylinder changes every month,, the IOC said in a release.
