Demand for India's healthcare roles rise by 6 pc: Monster Employment Index

Mumbai/IBNS: Monster Employment Index, a job analysis report by Monster.com, showcased the acceleration witnessed in hiring activity during the last six months which led to a six percent uptick.

Demand for talent surged by 12 percent year on year (YoY) during December, as per the index.

Across industries, the month of December 2021 saw Retaijob l and Agro-based industries witnessing a positive tick of 12 percent, on account of multi-channel approaches, technological adoption, and Government initiatives.

In December, the recruiting process also saw a monthly uptrend of two percent compared to the previous month.

The need for new employment in the healthcare sector grew by six percent on account of proliferating Covid-19 cases in India.

Job openings in Human Resources & administration (5%), and finance & accounts (4%) spiraled over the month.

The need for entry level/freshers and intermediate job roles saw the highest monthly growth at two percent, as compared to other experience levels (Dec 2021 vs Nov 2021), it said.

A YoY (Dec 2021 vs Dec 2020) comparison indicates that industries such as Retail (14%) and Travel & Tourism (4%) witnessed a revival and are estimated to grow further this year.

On the other hand, engineering, cement, construction, iron/ steel industry (-13%) saw a dip in hiring during December due to an increase in labour migration causing bottlenecks in logistics and construction.

Other sectors performing with a sequential decline in hiring demand include import/export (-8%), government/ PSU/Defense (-7%), Media & Entertainment (-6%), and Education (-4%).
