New Delhi: Lauding the role of industry in achieving the goal of 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday said the government will push more with innovations, investments and policy reforms in the years to come.

Speaking at the National Conclave of Industry Association FICCI, the Minister said, "There are certain sectors where the government will push more and innovations, investments and policy reforms. These include EVs, space, Artificial Intelligence, warehousing, logistics, agriculture value addition, tourism and green hydrogen."

India's logistics potential is just not even touched. "We have immense scope in this," she added.

India has become the fifth largest economy in the world and is on the path to becoming the third largest economy, she said adding that the reforms undertaken by this government in the last few years will continue further.

The Minister said that the government on its part is showing its commitment by ramping up capital expenditure and urged the industry to come forward to expand and look forward to greater JVs around the world.

She lauded the role played by the Industry during the freedom struggle by building industry and capacity despite colonial pressure. "It is time for us to have economic independence with the goal of Viksit Bharat and I am sure industry will play its role in it," Sitharaman said.

Speaking at the function, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur said that the world is looking at India and its technology, which has empowered not only the poor but also marginalised communities.

"We have moved from being part of the Fragile Five economies to becoming the fifth largest economy in the world," he emphasised.
