Indian benchmark indices close higher on Friday

Mumbai, Oct 6 (IBNS): The Indian market closed higher on Friday with Sensex up 222.19 points at 31,814.22 while NSE Nifty was up 91 points at 9979.70.

The GST Council, which is holding its 22nd meeting in Delhi on Friday may see a reduction in rates for 60 goods and services, the media reported.

Key stocks that gained on Friday were Tata Steel, GAIL, Hindalco, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance, NTPC, SBI and HUL while Hero Motocrop, Bharti Infratel, Tata Motors (D), Dr Reddys Labs, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank and HDFC declined.
