Indian benchmark indices close in positive territory on Thursday

Mumbai, Oct 20 (IBNS): Spurred by positive cues from global markets, strong US earnings data and a hike in oil prices, the Indian market closed higher on Thursday, according to media reports.

Sensex was up 145.47 points at 28129.84 and Nifty was up 40.30 points at 8699.40.

Some of the key stocks that gained on Thursday were Adani Ports, ICICI Bank, SBI, HDFC, Hindalco, Bharti Infratel, Idea Cellular and L&T while HUL, Lupin, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma, HCL Technologies, and ITC ended as losers.
