Indian Market: Sensex advances 377.75 pts

Mumbai: The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange rallied 377.75 pts to close at 60,663.79 following gains in Commodities, Health Care, IT and Technology stocks along with rising Repo Rates in RBI Monetary policy announced on Wednesday.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) surged 150.20 pts at 18,871.70.

The day opened on a positive note at 60,332.99, rising 36 pts. Throughout the session, the sensex spurted 506 pts at 60,792.10, days high, before closing at 60,663.79, surging 377.75 pts from its previous close.

The sectoral indices like Commodity was increased 2.28 pc followed by IT by 1.51 pc, Health Care by 1.20 pc and Technology by 1.09 pc.

In scrips, Bajaj Finance was a top gainer, up 2.98 pc to Rs 6342.75 followed by Ultracemco by 2.43 pc to Rs 7245, Reliance Industries by 1.95 pc to Rs 2350.90 and Wipro by 1.82 pc to Rs 407.60.

While, the losers were L& T by 1.45 pc to Rs 2134.40, Bharti Airtel by 1.32 pc to Rs 775, Axis Bank by 0.84 pc to Rs 871.60 and Kotak Bank by 0.59 pc to Rs 1764.30.

The Mid Cap rose by 1 pc and Small Cap by 0.76 pc.

In 30 scrips, 26 advanced while 4 declined.
