Indian Market: Sensex falls 106.60 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex remained weak for the third consecutive session on Friday, as it slipped 106.60 pts to settle at 66,160.20 as selling was seen in Technology, IT, banking, and Financial Services stocks.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) declined 13.85 points to 19,646.05.

The Sensex opened on a steady note at 66,266.35 points. During the day, it rose 85 points to 66,351.22, a day's high.

Later, it tumbled down nearly 388 pts to 65,878.65, a day low, before closing at 66,160.20, declining 106.60 pts from its previous close.

The stocks that kept the market under pressure were Technology by 0.69 percent, IT by 0.67 percent, banking by 0.45 percent, and Financial Services by 0.41 percent.

The midcap gained 0.55 percent, and the small cap gained 0.49 percent.

In 30 scrips, 15 advanced while 15 declined.

The losers were HDFC Bank, a top loser, down 1.81 pc to Rs 1643.40, Bajaj Finserv by 1.75 pc to Rs 1584, Tata Motors by 1.49 pc to Rs 636.25, and TCS by 1.21 pc to Rs 3355.

The gainers were NTPC by 4.11 pc to Rs 210.30, Powergrid by 0.09 pc to Rs 258.35, and M & M by 1.36 pc to Rs 1466.50.
