Indian Market: Sensex jumps 367.47 points

Mumbai: Snapping a losing streak of the last three sessions, the BSE sensex on Monday bounced back 367.47 pts to close at 66,527.67 on the strength of Utilities, Power, metals, and industrial stocks.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 107.75 points to 19,753.80.

The Sensex opened negative at 66,156.39 and fell marginally by four points.

During the day, it lost nearly 162 points to 65,998.90, a day's low.

In late trade, it erased earlier losses and ended at 66,527.67, surging 367.47 points from its previous close.

Meanwhile, it spurted 438 points at 66,598.42, a day high.

Stocks like Utilities, Power, metals, and Industrials lifted the market.

Utilities went up by 2.47 percent, followed by Power by 2.33 percent, Metal by 1.73 percent, and Industrials by 1.66 percent.

The midcap increased by 0.86 percent and the small cap by 1.31 percent.

In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while 17 declined.

The gainers were NTPC by 3.71 pc to Rs 217.80, Powergrid by 3.14 pc to Rs 266.35, Tech Mahindra by 2.52 pc to Rs 1118.20, Tata Steel by 1.87 pc to Rs 122.80, and TCS by 1.85 pc to Rs 3417.40.

The losers were Bajaj Finance by 1.18 pc to Rs 7295, Kotak Bank by 1.12 pc to Rs 1855, Hind Unilever by 1.01 pc to Rs 2559, ITC by 0.66 pc to Rs 465.45, and Bharati Airtel by 0.46 pc to Rs 890.60.
