Indian Market: Sensex regains 351.49 points
Mumbai: Snapping a losing streak of the last three sessions, the BSE Sensex on Wednesday bounced back by 351.49 pts to close at 66,707.20 on the strength of Telecommunications, Capital Goods, real estate, and FMCG stocks.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 97.70 points to 19,778.30.
The Sensex opened higher at 66,434.72, up 79 points. It remained in green throughout the session, as it spurted 542 pts at 66,897.27, a day high, before closing at 66,707.20, up 351.49 pts from its previous close.
In stocks, Telecommunications was a major gainer, up 2.31 percent, followed by Capital Goods by 1.59 percent, real estate by 1.17 percent, and FMCG by 1.03 percent.
In scrips, L&T was a star gainer, surging 3.47 pc to Rs 2650.90, ITC by 2.11 pc to Rs 471.95, Sun Pharma by 1.70 pc to Rs 2527, and Kotak Bank by 1.12 pc to Rs 1896.
The losers were Bajaj Finance by 1.58 pc to Rs 7485, Bajaj Finserv by 1.41 pc to Rs 1625, M&M by 1.29 pc to Rs 1546, and Tech Mahindra by 1.01 pc to Rs 1142.
The midcap rose by 0.34 percent and the small cap by 0.22 percent.
In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined.
