Indian Market: Sensex surges 492.75 points

The equity market remained robust on the last session of the week as BSE Sensex soared 492.75 points to close at 67,481.19 following gains in power, FMCG, capital goods, and utility stocks amid global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 134.75 points to 20,267.90.

The day opened on a strong note at 67,18115, rising 193 points. It was spurted 576 pts at 67,564, days high, before closing at 67,481.19, gaining 492.75 pts from its previous close.

The stocks include FMCG, capital goods, industrials, and utilities.

ITC was up 3.16 percent to Rs 449.35, NTPC was up 2.95 percent to Rs 269, Axis Bank was up 2.92 percent to Rs 1106, LT was up 2.33 percent to Rs 3184,45, and Bajaj Finance was up 1.81 percent to Rs 7259.95.

The losers were M&M by 1.58 pc to Rs 1621.65, Wipro by 1.51 pc to Rs 407, Tata Motors by 0.39 pc to Rs 703.50, and Maruti Suzuki by 0.37 pc to Rs 10,564.85.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.96 pc and the Small Cap by 0.48 pc.

In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.
