Mumbai/UNI: The Rupee remained strong on Friday too, as it advanced 15 paise to close strong at 72.44 against the USD on brisk selling of US Dollar by bankers and importers, dealers at the Forex Market said.

The domestic unit that shot up 24 paise to 72.35 in early trade, slipped from opening level but closed positive only at 72.44, up by 15 paise as compared to its previous close.

The local unit registered days high and low at 72.49 and 72.32 respectively.

The Rupee spurted today because of weak dollar against other world currencies amid strong equity market, dealers added.
