Jet Airways Crisis: Employees to organise peaceful march in Delhi on April 18
New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) Frustrated over no headway, the Jet Airways employees in Delhi are organising a peaceful movement on Thursday to draw the attention of the government to save the airline.
The Society For Welfare of Indian Pilots and Jet Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Welfare Association have decided to conduct a peaceful march for a cause to save the airline with a request to the government, the Association said in a statement here.
On Tuesday, the Board meeting of the Jet Airways with the SBI-led consortium, on releasing the funds for the airline, remained inconclusive.
Jet Airways CEO Vinay Dube in a letter to its employees said the airline has been working with the Indian lenders to provide all support, which may be required to keep the airline resurrect.
He said they have highlighted during the meet with the bankers, the urgent need of funding, which is critical for the continuation of the airline's operations.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, the cash-strapped Jet Airways is operating with five planes only.
Earlier, on April 13, the airline employees had organised a peaceful silent march at Terminal -3 of the IGI airport demanding their salaries.
The Jet Airways has been facing a mounting debt of more than Rs 8,000 crore. On March 25, the airline’s Board Meet has decided to infuse a capital of Rs 1500 crore immediately to put the carrier on the roadmap of recovery. However, the decision could not be materialised till date.
