July witnesses drop in sale of passenger vehicles by 31 percent

New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) Sales of passenger vehicles declined in the month of July 2019 by 30.98 per cent as total number of vehicles sold were 200,790 units as compared to 290,931 units in July 2018.

Passenger car sales slipped 35.95 pc to 1.22 lakh units as compared to 1.91 lakh units in July 2018, according to data released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) here on Tuesday.

Commercial vehicle sales registered a minus growth of 25.71 per cent. A total number of 56,866 vehicles were sold in July 2019 as compared to 76,545 in the corresponding period of the last year.

Three and 2-wheelers also witnessed decline of 7.66 pc and 16.82 pc in sales segment.
