New Delhi, Apr 28 (IBNS): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, while addressing CII's Annual Meeting in New Delhi on Friday said that benefits of the growth should percolate down to the most poor sections of the society.

The Minister said that over the years, globalisation has helped  consumers in getting the best quality products at the most competitive prices.

He said, "We need to improve our manufacturing sector where we have to cover a distance."

"Profit or profiteering is not a bad word but benefits of low taxes must be passed on to cosumers at large," Jaitley said.

He also said, "Higher world growth of 3.4% in 2017-18 & 3.6% in 2018-19 as per IMF prediction, would help us in growing much faster."

Talking of GST, the Finance Minister said that there will be no surprises while fixing the tax rates. He also reiterated that the government is all set to roll out the GST regime from July 1 this year.
