MTS India launches 'Homespot' Instant Wi-Fi solution

New Delhi, Feb 11 (IBNS) Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) that provides telecom services under the brand MTS on Wednesday announced its entry into home WiFi segment with the launch of Homespot Instant WiFi solution.

This launch marks a strategic shift in focus for MTS from being primarily a dongle driven data company to a WiFi solutions provider.

The specially designed Homespot Instant WiFi solution comes with an MBlaze Ultra dongle which works with a simple plug and play mechanism and can provide high speed broadband access to 5 users simultaneously including Smartphone customers. With an exciting entry price and a range of monthly tariff plans to choose from – the Company is pegging Homespot Instant WiFi solution as the Common Man’s WiFi.

While Internet usage in the country is booming, only 3 per cent of the country’s population has access to internet at home, according to the survey done by Gallup in 2011. This presents a huge opportunity for telecom operators to target the untapped home segment; especially in the tier 2 and tier 3 cities, where smartphones are gaining popularity. MTS India is all set to target this market opportunity with the launch of Homespot Instant Wi-Fi.

According to Leonid Musatov, Chief Marketing & Brand Officer – MTS India, “MTS is traditionally known as a data dongle provider in the Indian market. The plan is to now shift focus and be recognised as a world-class Wi-Fi solutions provider. With the Homespot Instant Wi-Fi solution, we have a fantastic product to address the internet needs of multiple users including Smartphone customers at home with a single, easy to use device”.

Leonid further added, “The launch of Homespot Instant WiFi solution is being supported by integrated communication campaign featuring a TVC that will see the return of MTS Internet Baby in an all new avatar. The launch of this campaign will coincide with the upcoming cricket world cup”

The data plans for Homespot Instant Wi-Fi solution have been custom designed for the intended target group. The plan priced at Rs. 499/- for 5GB of prepaid data comes with a unique offer of FREE WhatsApp and Viber; the two most used mobile applications.

The plan implies that customers can save up to 50% of their monthly internet bills if a family of 4 members consumes 1 GB each on multiple devices including Smartphones. The customers can choose from a range of other unlimited prepaid and postpaid plans depending on their usage.
