The Eastern Region Export Excellence Awards was constituted in 2014 to reward the top performing exporters of Eastern and N-E India.

The share of Eastern and North Eastern India was a little over 5.5% of India's exports in 2018-19.

Speaking on the occasion, Sushil Patwari, the Regional Chairman-Eastern Region FIEO, said, "This has been a most exhilarating evening for all of us in the Federation and the entire exporting community."

S.K Saraf, President, FIEO, said, "I am privileged, humbled and honoured to stand before this august gethering to honour the achievers in succeeding in their exporting efforts in very challenging times. I wish them greater success and hope they will continue to scale new heights in future as well."

"We plan to request the central government to give special incentives for modernisation of exporting industry in West Bengal. At the same time, I request the state government to consider making each district of this state export hub," he added.
