RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das rated top Central banker globally
New Delhi: Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das has been ranked the best Central banker globally with a rating of ‘A+’.
US-based Global Finance magazine gave him the top rating in its Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2023.
The annual Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards have been published every year since 1994. It ranks the Central bank governors of 101 countries based on a scale from A to F for successful inflation control, economic growth goals, currency stability, and interest rate management, according to a statement by Global Finance magazine.
Das has been placed above two other Central bank governors who were ranked A+.
As per the magazine, an 'A' rating reflects an excellent performance down through while an 'F' for complete failure.
Switzerland Governor Thomas J. Jordan and Central bank chief of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Hong follow Das in the ranking.
"Fighting inflation, which has been fueled by pent-up demand and disrupted supply chains, has everyone turning to their central bankers for help," the statement said.
Global Finance's annual Central Banker Report Cards laud bank governors whose strategies outclassed their peers through originality, creativity and tenacity, it said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Shaktikanta Das for the global recognition.
