RBI to soon issue ₹10 and ₹500 notes with new Guv Sanjay Malhotra’s signature

Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday announced that it will shortly release ₹10 and ₹500 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series featuring the signature of Governor Sanjay Malhotra.

The Central bank clarified that the design of these notes remains unchanged from the existing ₹10 and ₹500 notes currently in circulation under the same series.

“All ₹10 banknotes issued by the Reserve Bank previously will continue to be legal tender,” the RBI said.

The same applies to all existing ₹500 notes of the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series.

This move follows the central bank’s announcement last month to introduce new ₹100 and ₹200 notes bearing Malhotra’s signature.

Malhotra assumed charge as the RBI Governor in December 2024, succeeding Shaktikanta Das, who completed his extended tenure.
