Reliance Consumer acquires Velvette to expand presence in personal care segment
Mumbai: Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL) announced on Friday that it has acquired Velvette, an FMCG brand recognised for its presence in the personal care segment.
With this acquisition, Velvette joins RCPL’s expanding portfolio, which focuses on offering high-quality, value-driven products tailored to Indian consumers while maintaining global standards, the company stated in a press release.
RCPL aims to strengthen Velvette’s market appeal by leveraging its technological expertise and consumer insights while preserving the brand’s legacy.
The acquisition is expected to help expand Velvette’s reach, making personal care more accessible and affordable to a broader audience.
“We are excited to welcome Velvette into the Reliance family. The brand has played a significant role in making personal care accessible to millions. We look forward to enhancing its product offerings and taking it to greater heights,” said Ketan Mody, Chief Operating Officer of Reliance Consumer Products.
The company stated that the move reinforces RCPL’s position in the personal care and FMCG industry, enabling it to build upon Velvette’s strong consumer trust while staying true to its mission of providing affordable, high-quality products.
Velvette’s journey dates back to 1980 when its founder, Dr C K Rajkumar, transformed the personal care industry by introducing PVC pillow pouches for shampoo.
“We are excited to partner with Reliance Consumer Products and begin a new chapter for Velvette. With RCPL’s resources, we can expand the brand’s reach and introduce its authentic offerings to a wider, modern audience,” said Velvette’s Sujatha Rajkumar and Arjun Rajkumar.
