Retail inflation touches 3-month high of 8.59 pct

New Delhi, May 19 (IBNS): India's retail inflation has touched a three-month high figure of 8.59 percent in April, government data showed on Monday.

Measured on consumer price index (CPI), the country's  retail inflation stood at 8.31 percent in March this year.

"The corresponding provisional inflation rates for rural and urban areas for April 2014 are 9.25% and 7.69% respectively. Inflation rates (final) for rural and urban areas for March 2014 are 8.89% and 7.51% respectively. Inflation for specified categories is indicated at Annex II," said the statement released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
