Mumbai/UNI: The rupee on Monday gained six paise at 74.57 against the USD on the selling of the greenback by bankers and exporters, dealers at the Forex Market said.

The domestic unit advanced 20 paise at 74.43 in opening trade; it declined during the day but ended positive at 74.57 rising by six paise as compared to its previous close.

The rupee rose owing to the weak dollar against other world currencies amid a negative equity market, the dealers said.

The local unit registered day's high and low at 74.60 and 74.40 respectively.
