Kolkata, Jan 6 (IBNS): Binod Kumar, Director (Commercial), Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), on Wednesday presented the company’s highest awards – Jawahar Award & Nehru Vishistha Karmachari Puraskar – for the year 2014-15 to 7 employees of the company’s Central Marketing Organisation (CMO) at a function held at Ispat Bhavan here.

The awardees were chosen for their excellent performance from among more than 1,470 CMO employees posted in the various marketing offices of SAIL across the country.

The Jawahar Award & Nehru Vishistha Karmachari Puraskar scheme was instituted in CMO in 1993-94 to encourage and reward extraordinary, innovative and exemplary performance of its employees in their respective areas of work – Marketing, Maintenance, Services, Quality, Cost, Employee Relations, Health, Administration or Safety.

Till date, 167 employees (63 executives & 104 non-executives) have received these coveted awards. In recognition of their excellence, Jawahar Awardees (executive category) receive a cash reward of Rs. 7,500 while every Nehru Puraskar (non-executive category) winner is presented Rs. 4,000, along with a medal and certificate.

In his address on the occasion, Binod Kumar briefed the large gathering on the difficult business environment being faced by the steel industry at present and said that the award scheme would act as a morale booster for CMO employees and drive them to higher levels of performance, helping the company to achieve its goals despite stiff competition.

While congratulating the award winners, Kumar urged them to inspire their co-workers to attain their levels of commitment and dedication to the organization.

The spouses and family members of the awardees graced the award ceremony besides senior CMO executives and other employees.
