Sensex crashes by over 900 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Thursday tanked 934.97 points, below 57K to reach 56,923.18 in the opening session, as selling was seen across the board amid weak global cues.

The Nifty too slipped 248.10 points to 17,029.85. The Sensex registered the day's high and low at 57,317.38 and 56,674.51 points respectively.

The Mid Cap declined 1.74 per cent and Small Cap by 0.62 per cent. In 30 scrips, 3 advanced while 27 declined.

The losers were Tata Steel by 3.91 per cent to Rs 1065.35, Titan by 3.60 per cent to Rs 2293.75, HCL Technology by 2.83 per cent to Rs 1093, Bajaj finance by 2.49 per cent to Rs 6787.75 and Wipro by 2.35 per cent to Rs 549.60.

The gainers were Maruti Suzuki by 1.63 per cent to Rs 8740.90, IndusInd Bank by 0.26 per cent to Rs 885.05, Kotak Bank by 0.22 per cent to Rs 1856.10 and Axis Bank by 0.21 per cent to Rs 753.55.
