Sensex up by 400 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Monday rallied 497.25 points to 60,241.90 in the opening session as buying was seen across the board.

The Nifty too rose by 145.90 points to 17,958.60.

The Sensex registered the days high and low at 60,262.16 and 59,987.18 points respectively.

The Nifty registered the day's high and low at 17,969.80 and 17,879.15 points respectively.

The Mid Cap was up 0.63 and Small Cap by 1 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 21 advanced while 9 declined.

The gainers were Maruti Suzuki by 3.57 per cent to Rs 8190.15, ITC by 2.11 per cent to Rs 223.10, Infosys by 2 per cent to Rs 1849.45, Kotak Bank by 1.67 per cent to Rs 1935.30 and Axis Bank by 1.57 per cent to Rs 743.35.

The losers were Wipro by 2.24 per cent to Rs 695.30, Asian Paints by 1.05 per cent to Rs 3537, Nestle India 0.59 per cent to Rs 19,805.75 and Dr Reddy's Lab by 0.45 per cent to Rs 4687.25.
