Sitharaman holds meeting with ministries to assess economic impact of Covid 19

New Delhi/UNI: With a view to assess the economic impact of Covid 19, Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday met with representatives from the ministries of tourism, micro, small and medium enterprises, civil aviation and animal husbandry to assess the impact of the pandemic in their respective sectors.

The ministries were in touch with stakeholders from their respective sectors and then came to us. We have listened to their side of the story,' Ms Sitharaman told reporters here.

'Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that a task-force will be formed and it will be set up. Have met animal husbandry, aviation, tourism MSME stakeholders,' she said.

'The ministries were in touch with stakeholders from their respective sectors and came to us after speaking with these people. We have listened to their side of the story,' Ms Sitharaman said.

She can’t make an assessment right now, the minister stated.

'Finance Minister meets Shri Prahlad Patel, Minister of Tourism, to assess the economic impact of COVID19 on tourism sector in New Delhi today,' the Finance ministry said in a tweet.

Finance Secretary, Secretary DEA and Secretary Tourism were also present in the meeting.

During the meeting with MSME stakeholders, Secretary , Secretary DEA & Secretary MSME were present.
