Telangana’s IT exports move up by 26.14 pc during 2021-22

Hyderabad: Telangana registered 26.14 per cent growth in the IT/ITeS exports to cross Rs 1.83 lakh crore during 2021-22 against the national average growth of 17.2 per cent.

Telangana’s IT/ITEs exports during the year stood at Rs.1,83,569 crores against Rs. 1,45,522 crores in the previous year.

The National Exports (including that of Telangana) grew at 17.2 percent while Telangana alone grew at a significantly higher rate of 26.14 per cent.

Speaking after releasing the IT Progress Report for 2021 - 22 here on Wednesday, Telangana IT Minister K.T Rama Rao said the state once again boasted a phenomenal growth in the IT/ITeS Sector.

The employment in the IT/ITeS sector has also increased by 23.78 per cent to reach 7,78,121 during the 2021-2022 period.

The state also added 1,49,506 new jobs in the IT/ ITeS sector during 2021 – 22, to take the total number of direct employment to 6,28,615 despite the second year of the COVID pandemic.

As per the estimates by NASSCOM, approximately, a total of 4,50,000 net new jobs were added to the IT sector Nationwide.
Telangana contributed to a third of the net new National Employment in the IT Sector.

When we started as a new born state of Telangana in 2014, our IT exports were Rs. 57,258 Crores and our IT employment was 3,23,397, the Minister said, since the formation of the new state, we have been able to achieve a CAGR of 15.67 percent ( from 57,258 to 1,83,569).

Several institutions and initiatives were grounded to make Telangana a preferred destination in the Emerging Technologies.

Our Electronic Services Delivery currently delivers 600 plus services offered through 4,500 MeeSeva centers serving 2.6 Crore citizens per annum handling transactions of Rs. 4,500 Crores, he said.

Telangana is number 2 in e-transactions per population in the country (after Lakshadweep) as per the transactions recorded between June 2014 and May 2022, the IT Minister said.

The Minister said the number of estimated startups in the state has risen from 400 in 2016 to about 2,000 now and T-Hub will further boost the growth of this ecosystem. Lab32, a flagship program of T-hub for seed-accelerator stage is focused on enabling them to self-sustain and grow.

WE- Hub has created several programs to encourage Women, and girl children including Girls In Stem, and WE Alpha, he said We-Hub has been selected as an incubator under the Startup India Seed Fund scheme and an amount of Rs. 5 crores was sanctioned out of which Rs. 4.5 crore has been disbursed to 13 promising startups.

T-works has designed several innovative products including a custom PCB for a mobile charging solution, development of an automated quilling tool, etc for helping rural innovators, the Minister said.

Under the T-FIBER project, the Telangana Government is laying a carrier grade telecom optic fiber network from State Headquarters (SHQ) down to Gram Panchayats (GPs) and rural households along with all the Government institutions and private enterprises.

Out of a total scope of 22,298 Km, 17,328 Kms has been done and out of a total scope of 425 Lit-up completed Mandals, 404 has been completed, the Minister added.
