| | Apr 22, 2017, at 05:46 pm
Calgary Apr 22 (IBNS/NITN): Calgary based West Jet Airlines is going to introduce a low cost carrier in Canadian market by the end of 2017, reports said.

Announcing this, Chief Executive of the company Gregor Saretsky said that the airline industry has undergone changes since the inception of the airline in 1999.

"The demand for bundled products and services at the expense of low fares for the price-sensitive passengers gave birth of many ultra-low-cost-carriers (ULCC) throughout the world," Saretsky said.

Currently there are 100 ULCC in operation all over the world.

Aircraft with a relatively narrow legroom and shorter width of seats fall into the ULCC category and leaves choices fully on travelers to decide what they want to add to their ticket.

Everything from seat selection to baggage to food are all charged item wise, even in some cases printing boarding pass at airport costs money.

Currently WestJet has been flying to 100 destinations worldwide and they have codes partners all over the world.

In addition to that, the  reward programs, credit card program,WestJet connect and WestJet vacations, with a variety of packages for all kinds of leisure destinations.

The exact date of launching is yet to be announced as the airline management is awaiting approval from the regulatory authority and agreement with the pilot union.
