7.3 earthquake hits Venezuela, no casualty

Caracas, Aug 22 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 7. 3 on the Richter Scale hit Venezuela's northeast coast on Wednesday,  US Geological Survey (USGS)   said.

No casualty has been reported so far.

As per the US Geological Survey (USGS) website, the quake hit north-north-west of Yaguaraparo town.

People reportedly evacuated the building and rushed out from their homes when the quake struck the area.

Country's  Interior Minister Nestor Reverol earlier tweeted: "We called all the people #Venezuela to stay calm, minutes ago felt a tremor of magnitude 6.3 to 19 km southwest of Yaguaraparo, Edo. Sucre. VEN 911 and 0-800 Pcivil-1 are active to address any emergency #21Ago."
