Assam: Brahmaputra flows 1.17 metre above danger level mark in Guwahati

Guwahati, July 15 (IBNS): The water level of the Brahmaputra river has gradually increased and it is flowing above the danger level mark in Guwahati city of Assam.

The rising water has touched the face of Lord Vishnu statue sitting on Sheshnag placed on the vertical pillar located in the Brahmaputra river in Guwahati near the Chakreshwar temple.

The water level in river Brahmaputra in Guwahati has exceeded the danger level of 49.68 meters and it touched 50.85 meters on Monday.

The flood waters have entered into the parks located along the banks of the Brahmaputra river.

“The water level has gradually increased and it is still increasing by 2-3 cm per hour. The Brahmaputra river is flowing 1.17 meter above the danger level mark and it is also expected to be increased,” an employee of Central Water Commission said.
