Assam reports two cases of Omicron variant

Guwahati/IBNS: Assam has reported two cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Wednesday said that Assam has so far reported two cases of Omicron variant.

“A 13-year-old boy hailing from Kamrup (Metro) district was tested positive for Omicron variant yesterday and another 35-year-old returnee from Dubai tested positive for Omicron variant. The 13-year-old boy was returned from Meghalaya’s capital city Shillong and the second person is hailing from Hojai district,” Keshab Mahanta said.

However, both persons were tested negative.

Assam on Wednesday reported 591 COVID-19 positive cases and four deaths.

The positivity rate is 1.72 percent and out of total detection, 279 positive cases were detected alone in Kamrup (Metro) district.
