Australia launches satellite to tackle slow internet speed

Sydney, Oct 1 (IBNS) The Australian Government on Thursday launched a new satellite, Sky Muster, from South America to provide high speed internet service to its rural citizens.

The new satellite is estimated to provide 200,000 people with high speed internet connectivity, living in remote areas.

Spokeswoman for National Broadband Network (NBN), Frances Kearey was quoted by ABC as saying, “It's one of the world's largest communication satellites and is purpose-built to deliver broadband to Australia - an incredibly vast country.”

“The NBN satellite service will provide speeds that people in the cities take for granted - opening up new opportunities in education, health, social connectivity and business,” Kearey added.
