Bangladesh govt imposes strict lockdown across 7 districts to avoid spread of COVID-19
Dhaka: Bangladesh government has put seven districts in the country into strict lockdown to avoid spread of COVID-19.
All land transportation in the districts, except emergency services, are to be suspended for the next nine days, reported Dhaka Tribune.
The districts are reported to be located around Dhaka city.
According to the health authorities, the test positivity rate in the country climbed to 19.27% Monday, with 4,636 people infected. A further 78 people died from Covid-19, reported the newspaper.
The recent increase in cases in the country is believed to be for the spread of Delta variant which in recent times hit normal life in neighbouring India.
The Cabinet Ministry in a circular said Manikganj, Narayanganj, Munsiganj, Gazipur, Madaripur, Rajbari and Gopalganj would go into strict lockdown from 6am today to midnight on June 30, Dhaka Tribune reported.
