Bangladesh registers 32 new COVID-19 deaths in past 24 hours

Dhaka: Bangladesh has registered 32 new COVID-19 fatalities in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll due to the disease to 7,052, media reports said on Sunday.

The country also logged more than 490,000 coronavirus cases with 1,355 people testing positive over the same period, reports Dhaka Tribune.

Of the 32 deceased -- 24 men and eight women -- 19 were from Dhaka division, three each from Chittagong, Khulna, Sylhet, and Rangpur, and one from Rajshahi division, the newspaper reported.

Among those who died in the past 24 hours, 31 passed away in hospitals while one breathed his last in his residence.

Bangladesh recorded its first COVID-19 case on Mar 8.

The virus is believed to have originated from China.
