Delhi air quality slightly improves

| @indiablooms | Nov 24, 2019, at 07:58 pm

New Delhi/UNI: National capital on Sunday witnessed slight improvement in the air quality and was under the 'poor' category now which was reeling under 'very poor' category for the past couple of days.

The average air quality index value based on observation of 35 monitoring stations across the city was 232 at around 1800 hours in this evening, while the sky seemed to be clearer during the day compared to what it was on Saturday.

The improvement is likely due to the slight improvement in the wind speed as the weatherman had also forecast strong surface winds for Sunday.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 26.8 degrees C while relative humidity was 58 per cent in the evening.

Low temperature and high humidity also contributes in making the air dense and cold which further increases chances of holding the particulate matter ultimately making the air dense and elevate AQI index.

The air situation is likely to further improve on Monday as the Met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky with Light air or drizzle which may help in dispersing the particulate along with improved wind speed.
