GVK receives Carbon Accreditation Certificate

Kolkata, June 5 (IBNS): GVK has received the Carbon Accreditation Certificate for its GVK CSIA project in Mumbai.
This is part of the global carbon management certification for airports.

This programme assesses and recognises the efforts of airports to manage and reduce their carbon emissions with four levels of award: 'Mapping', 'Reduction', 'Optimisation' and 'Neutrality’.

GVK CSIA has received the Level 2 (Reduction) certificate. This certificate coming on World Environment Day, is recognition of GVK’s efforts to build sustainable infrastructure that exists in harmony with the environment, the company said in a statement.

As global population grows, it places an ever increasing load on the world’s resources and infrastructure. While meeting this meeting this demand, it is critical to maintain a harmonic balance with the environment in order to sustain this ever shrinking resource pool and prevent irreversible damage to the environment.

As an organization committed to sustainable development, GVK claimed that it has renewed its efforts to providing world class infrastructure that meets and exceeds global ‘Green’ standards.

Keeping with this philosophy, it has built an in-house Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) to ensure all projects meet and obtain the Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) from the United Nations Framework Convention Climate Change (UNFCCC).

GVK Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director – GVK, said, “It is our constant endeavour to be the best in the world. We understand that to achieve that we have to go beyond ordinary approaches and adopt unconventional and alternative thinking to achieve balanced business growth. Therefore environmental sustainability is one of the key pillars on which we develop all our projects.”
