Heavy downpour hits normal life in Assam, floods in Guwahati

Guwahati, June 13 (IBNS): Normal life has been crippled in most parts of Assam following incessant rains in past 12 hours.

According to Assam State Disaster Management department, water levels have been gradually increasing in Brahmaputra and its tributaries in the state.

Several areas of Guwahati were inundated by flash floods following torrential rains in past 12 hours, disrupting normal life.

Heavy downpour caused water logging at Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Tarun Nagar, Kahilipara, Kalapahar, GS road, Zoo road, VIP road, Narengi, Noonmati, Rajgarh, Hatigaon, Jorabat and other areas of the capital city of Assam.

Flash flood waters entered several houses in several areas of the city.

Traffic movement was slow in many areas following heavy water logging on the roads.

Torrential rains crippled normal life of the city.
