India continues to witness spike, registers 1,79,723 new COVID-19 cases

New Delhi: India registered 1,79,723 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, marking yet another day of surge, as per data released by the Ministry of Health on Monday.

Meanwhile, the country's Omicron tally reached 4,033.

Maharashtra topped the chart with 1,216 cases.

India's active caseload currently stands at 7,23,619.

Active cases stands at 2.03 percent.

Recovery Rate currently stands at 96.62 percent.

46,569 recoveries from the disease were registered in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, booster COVID-19 vaccine shots for  health and frontline workers and immuno-compromised seniors will be initiated from Monday.
