India records 40,120 fresh COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours

New Delhi: India, the country which witnessed a deadly second wave of the COVID-19, recorded 40,120 new cases in the past 24 hours, as per the Ministry of Health released data on Friday.

During the same period, 42,295 patients recovered from the deadly virus infection that has so far left 430254 people dead in the country since the first case was detected last year,

Active cases constitute 1.20 percent of total cases; lowest since Mar 2020.

India's Active caseload currently stands at 3,85,227.

The Ministry said the highest ever recovery rate has been achieved It currently stands at 97.46 percent.

3,13,02,345 total recoveries across the country so far.

In the past 24 hours, 585 people died due to the virus.
