India registers 5,233 new COVID-19 cases, 7 deaths

New Delhi: India is once again witnessing a spike as 5,233 new COVID-19 cases were registered in the past 24 hours taking the daily positivity rate to 1.67 percent, as per data released by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday.

During the same period, seven people died due to the viral infection.

India's active caseload currently stands at 28,857.

Active cases stand at 0.07 percent.

Recovery Rate currently at 98.72 percent.

3,345 people also recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours.

Situation in Maharashtra:

Maharashtra recorded 1,881 new Covid-19 cases, highest in recent days, with no death in past 24 hours, the health bulletin said on Wednesday.

With new cases, the state’s cumulative case tally has surged to 78,96,114 and the death toll stands at 1,47,866.

Meanwhile, 878 recovered patients were discharged across the state, taking overall count of recoveries to 77,39,816.

The state's recovery rate significantly came down to 98.02 per cent and fatality rate is at 1.87 per cent.
