India registers biggest single-day Covid-19 spike with new 22,771 infections, toll 442 in 24 hours
New Delhi/IBNS: India, the country of 1.3 billion people, on Saturday registered the biggest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases with new 22,771 infections besides reporting 442 deaths in the last 24 hours.
With over 22,000 cases, India's Covid tally now stands at 6,48,315 including 3,94,227 cured or discharged and 18,655 deaths.
The western state of Maharashtra, which still remains the worst-hit part of the country, has so far reported 1,92,990 cases including 1,04,687 cured or discharged and 8,376 deaths.
In terms of Covid figures, Maharashtra is followed by Tamil Nadu (1,02,721) and the national capital of Delhi (94,695).
India has entered into Unlock on Jul 1 with several relaxations in various socio-economic aspects of lives.
