India registers six cases of new Coronavirus mutant strain as UK returnees test positive
New Delhi: India has reported six cases of new coronavirus mutant strain after all these people, who returned from the UK recently, tested positive, media reports said on Tuesday.
The mutant strain is believed to be 70 percent more infectious.
It was reportedly first reported from the UK.
However, India continued to report a declining trend in the COVID-19 cases as 16,432 instances have been registered in the past 24 hours.
There are 1,02,24,303 COVID-19 cases registered by the countries so far.
In the past 24 hours, 252 new deaths related to the virus have been reported.
The death toll due to the virus in the country now stands at 148153.
So far, 9807569 people have recovered from the disease in the country.
There are 268581 active cases in the country right now.
